What is art?

Welcome to the continuous human quest, the examination of aesthetics, expression, purpose and form. Humans have the ability to ask questions and create abstract thoughts. We find great value in these abilities.
What is art? What is art today? What forms of art do you appreciate and value? What forms do you feel is under-recognized?
As visual artist, art educator, art business owner, and poet, I have certain perspectives concerning art, mostly as a more traditional form of appreciation, as commercial products and personal insights that connect us on a basic human core. This core is universal in it's language. As a small art collector and appreciator of literature, film, theater, music and song, and dance, I see and experience many interesting things that I consider art.
To learn more about me go to my gallery's web site: www.vistagallery.com There you can read statements and information concerning my career, art making and poetry. You can see my art as well as many of the other gallery artists. I own the fine art gallery in beautiful Lake Tahoe, California and I am one of about 30 artists that I represent.
My artwork is contemporary in style, creating images relating to nature in mixed-media and in several different processes of printmaking. I write poetry that that companions my visual images; they tend to relate to the images on another interpretive level.
